In this configuration, the Red Line comes upon it's first underground stop heading south, Medical Center.
There's a lot of new construction going on for escalators and a tunnel to Walter Reed.
The best in my live
South of Grosvenor, the Red Line leaps across the Beltway on a bridge before heading below ground just south of the Beltway. The Red Line then transitions into a deep-bore rock tunnel route, using twin bored tunnels. It remains in this setup all the way to downtown.
This station has a standard island platform, and uses the 4 coffered arch standard to underground stops on the western side of the Red Line. The station is around 115 feet deep, which is relatively shallow compared to some of it's sister stations.
Medical Center opened as part of the Grosvenor Extension in July of 1984
This station is also the last along Rockville Pike, as to the south it's name changes to Wisconsin Avenue.
Clean station. Has one of the longer escalators, but very convenient to NIH.
I love md ,just move here recently.and honestly i like more to rite in the metro then a car haha...i love the is so punctual ,very well organize in every aspect. And the employes r nice, polite and very helpfull.they will literally go out of their way ,just to help u.
This station is lightly used. There is no commuter parking, and there is no retail nearby, meaning this stop is used mainly by NIH staff and patients.
